@Fred Mattsonthanks Fred. Luckily I know this person pretty well and can be honest with them saying the outcome wasn’t the best and I want to try again. They understand. I mean I’m honest with everyone, but some don’t like the wait.

On a side note, where the red triangle section comes to a point. What does everyone do with the seam allowance here. I trim it before adding the beauty stitch so it doesn’t have a bulge after the first hidden stitch. Hope that makes sense
  • How to change listing patterns for custom applications in a pre-existing seat foam
Make that a third person interested. Maybe this would be a good article for the home page @Nadeem Muaddi

@Adam Gabriel I could see this. But growing up in the auto repair industry. Used bags are sold and used all the time, if it’s not an insurance claim. Not saying you don’t state a valid point. But it’s more common than most people think. Think of a used car dealer. They are the worst, or best, at using things like this to save a buck on a vehicle they got cheap with a clean title and want to flip.

@Chris Viningdepending on makes and models, they sell for decent prices online. People buying them for a “builder” or color change of the interior. May be worth seeing if you can make a few bucks, for a small bit of time posting them online. Sell them cheap enough to not last long but enough to make it worth it. Also like stated above a salvage yard may buy them also

@Lew Mutchler I tore that cover off to start again. I’m fairly certain that aspect is centered correctly but I do see what you mean. I feel it’s the visual of the whole thing off to the left, that’s messing with this picture. But it is off like Paul mentioned.

@paul thundercliffeno, I can handle critiques. It helps me to improve. No worries. The seat bottom in this picture is actually the back as I had that laying down and holding the real seat bottom and it appears to be the back. Sorry if that’s confusing lol. But the seat section you circled is actually the one I’d redo. I’ll try to focus on them being even like you suggest.

Thanks @Fred Mattson I’ll give these bits of advice a go. Have to order more material first. It’s crazy as I’ve done things where they clearly have to line up top to bottom and have no issues or an issue I could correct easily anyways. This seat is just fighting me and thought I’d ask to see if I’m doing something wrong.
  • I've Seen It All
@Fred Mattson I go to that show every year with my dad. Great show. Bigger and bigger ever time we go. Then usually the next weekend down to the goodguys in Des Moines. About all we get to anymore.
  • I've Seen It All
@Fred Mattson was this one of the frankenstiener vehicles?
  • I've Seen It All
@Nadeem Muaddi this cracks me up. Unfortunately my daughter buys those jeans. Not as bad as the pic you posted. I always ask if she got half off since most is missing. She loves my dad jokes...
  • Show off your latest custom upholstery work.
@Jose Tarinreal clean looking. Like the lacing down the sides
  • Speed dictates stitch length
Thanks guys. No other issues with the machine other than this. Works very well for a cheaper consew machine. Maybe I’ll look into the feed dogs and see how I feel. I’m mechanically inclined and feel comfortable with a lot, but don’t want to do something that may set me back. The local repair shop is 2.5 hrs away and usually takes a week for them to get it in.
  • Convertible tops and car washes.
Thanks @Fred Mattson I was hoping you’d chime in on this. I will pass this on!
  • Singer porsche seat material.
Just talked with a car that gets his woven leather from Garret’s leather $1200 a yard he said
  • Singer porsche seat material.
@Ley Grigg Are you talking the woven leather inserts? If so relicate leather in one place. Not sure if it’s the exact material singer uses. I can’t find a link to the product on their site. But show it here on their featured vehicles page

  • SMS auto fabrics
I’m not feeling any more reassured in any direction lol. Maybe I’ll call the customer tomorrow and give them the ins and outs. Stating they run the gambit of reviews and why. Let them make the call
  • Fischer space pen
@Keith Mayne do you have a link to the eBay refills?
  • Fischer space pen
@Chris Vining you cant get the ones that actually went to space lol. I order mine only from somewhere overseas myself. Usually just price shop when I need more. So never the same place.
  • Aftermarket carpet supplier
My issues weren’t so bad I wouldn’t give them another try. It was just odd how irregular the edges were cut and width was.
  • Aftermarket carpet supplier
@John Dickerson I just did a kodiak yesterday with carpet from acc. I wasn’t to impressed either. They cut the width all jagged and I had to do some planning to make sure I got it just right the edge would be covered with the sill plastic. I had about. 1/4” wiggle room max. The molded indents were lacking also. First time I ever used them though.
  • Leather semi bra
Thanks everyone for the help. I ended up using a marine vinyl with sew foam.

I didn’t get any pics with the markings off but the customer was happy.
