So I just did the interior for a customers 2008 Dodge Ram. I ordered the carpet from acc and I just wasn’t at all impressed with the way it fit. Is there a better source for late model moulded carpets?

@John Dickerson I just did a kodiak yesterday with carpet from acc. I wasn’t to impressed either. They cut the width all jagged and I had to do some planning to make sure I got it just right the edge would be covered with the sill plastic. I had about. 1/4” wiggle room max. The molded indents were lacking also. First time I ever used them though.

We have been using them for years..most of the time they are fine.
What we do is steam the carpets so they lay better.
    Don't know any other supplier.

ACC does a good job at making a formed carpet set. The fitment issue is how it is being installed. The biggest problem with a pre-formed carpet set is that the padding is already attached. Sometimes it isn't in the correct place and that will throw off the fit.

Solution: Order the carpet set with the padding loose. If you fit the pad to the floor and than position the carpet, you will find that it works much better. You may also need to add additional carpet padding to the floor to correct any irregularities in the fit.

My issues weren’t so bad I wouldn’t give them another try. It was just odd how irregular the edges were cut and width was.

I find the fit of the ACC carpets to be inconsistent, some of their molded carpets fit pretty good, but others are just terrible, and on cars and trucks that have been out for many years, you'd think they could make a mold that would fit, the factory carpets fit!
We don't do a lot of retail carpets but when we do we will often just price the factory carpet and upsell it to the customer, as those are perfect in color match, precut holes and they FIT!!!! and are fast and easy to install. Unlike some of the ACC carpets.
Ordering w/o the padding is a good idea though.

ACC is the only aftermarket supplier for molded carpets. I tried searching for another place once and couldn't find anyone else, then later on by chance my sales rep told me that when competition pops up they always buy out the company.
I recommend always buying the carpet with the MAS backing, it makes it looks way better and cuts down on sound. Also as Fred said request that the carpet padding loose and not glued.

    What is MAS backing?

Sorry, it's MASS backing. Its a rubber backing that keeps out sound, but the backing itself gives the carpet a better shape and makes the carpet look a lot better.

The problem is the price point , try selling a $800 plus carpet for a 10 year old car. I agree the ACC carpets do not fit well especially with the jute glued to the back . I price the jobs so high that I hope they pass on the job . To much for an average result. I just did an install on a 1972 Corvette, ACC made the carpet and the fit was terrible. Luckily the customer brought me the carpet and I charged
According for the time I spent. I always price the factory carpets because the labor can reduce the overall cost and the customer will be much happier.

"Dan Ulrich" I order basically all of my ACC carpet kits from Rock Auto. I have an account directly with ACC, and it still works out a fair bit cheaper to order and have it shipped from rock auto.
