Did a quick search and didn’t find what I was looking for. I noticed while I was sewing some pleats my top thread tension was too high or my bobbin was too loose. So I adjusted the tension till it had a nice stitch. Problem is that I had the top thread so loose I could hear the tension disks vibrating from being so loose and the bobbin is too tight and breaking the thread, but the stitch looked great. Can’t be sewing hoping the thread doesn’t break. I’m using 92 sunguard thread. First time using this type. Same weight thread on top and bottom. Machine runs great otherwise. Anyone else have this issue. Machine is a new consequence premier. I know not top of the lone but it works.

Sounds like something is binding, or your upper tension is too loose. If the upper tension is too loose, it can cause the thread to gather under the feed dog and wrap around the hook and case assembly causing the thread to break. Did it break the thread before you reduced tension on the topside????
No, everything seemed to be working great till this. I believe the thread breaking was cause to get a good stitch I added a lot of tension to the bobbin. Nothing seems to be binding or anything. When I reduced the tension on the bobbin it went right back to where the top thread pulls the bottom thread through the hole in the vinyl.
No, no skipped stitches. I’m wondering if it’s not the thread also. First time using it. It’s a navy thread and as it runs through the machine it leaves a ton of navy dust like the dye is falling off. Maybe this is how it’s suppose to be. Last thread I was seeing with was bonded nylon 207 and it worked great. Same thickness foam for the most of that project.
Problem with my schooling at wyotech was they taught us to sew, pattern, etc. zero machine repair or maintenance. So The little I know I’ve learned from places like this or just searching around. But I don’t dive into it too much as I know my limits. If anyone knows a place in northern Iowa I can learn some repairs or the like please let me know as the closets repair shop is 2.5 hours away
Here is a pic of the dye dust on my machine. I know it’s not rubbing the thread any way than normal to be shaving this off so to speak. But I tried to get a pic of the top stitch. Where to can kind of see the bobbin thread pulled through. Then the under side to show the tension there
It appears to be a thread issue since the machine worked fine with different thread. If you haven't, put in a new needle and switch the thread. Try it out and see if that works. Keep in mind thread does have a shelf life.
i will say i have never had a bottom load machine do well with 207. you get a lot of needle deflection. throws stuff off, i had the juki 1541s. it was complete shit. it spent more time getting worked on than sewing. i bought a 20 yr old mitsubishi top load, it’s a dream not a single issue in the past 3 years.
I have an old consew 206RB that I use 270 size in. It's bottom load and works fine. I bought it new 20yrs ago and only use it for the 270 now since I have a new machine for regular sewing but the thread tension is set totally different for 69 thread.
My neighbor had a garage fire the other day and have been helping them so no real time to sew or test another thread. We’re at a stand still on as we got out what we could from the house and the inspectors are still going through the garage. I’m hoping this evening I can try some different thread. I can get it to sew with 69 good and the thicker like mentioned before. I do some adjusting with different thicknesses on practice pieces when I switch. So maybe I’ll go back to one of those and see what happens. Maybe I screwed something up or maybe it’s this particular thread I’m using now.
So I swapped on threads to the same weight as before with the same material didn’t adjust anything and instantly the results are much better. I’ve noticed the sunguard thread also seems to want to untwist while sewing. Like some of you said check the thread and you were correct. I’m hoping this is just a bad sample and not how it always is?
I think the big problem is with large thread is that the knot underneath is too big and has nowhere to go, as it is too fat to go half way up the needle hole like 69 thread does.
Place a paper disc like the pre-wound bobbins come with under the bobbin, I think your bobbin is back-lashing. I use a Consew 225 and this thread does same thing on mine if I don't use the paper disc. If you need anymore help or this doesn't work call me. I'll pm you my number.
