  • Thread size?
I had terrible luck with sunguard not that long ago. Frayed bad and the blue die flacked off just running it through the machine while I sewed. But I tend to use 69 for a lot with no issues, but do use 92 here and there.
  • Hump in material
Thanks Fred your advice and compliment mean a lot!
  • Rubber Welt Cord
I’m just guessing but I would say it’s squared off there cause it lets the feet get closer to the welt and makes a nicer part. But like stated, once it’s covered. It’ll all look the same
  • Proposition 65
So basically if you put the label on everything whether or not it actually pertains to it, you’re better off ahead lol. I was just going to say also, I had never seen this before and ever since this thread it’s everywhere it seems. That or my eyes now see something familiar since this thread and notice it.

Thanks for the help everyone, got it all buttoned up Sunday. Like Robert said it’s a little plastic piece that goes over and then the headliner is folded up. The rear window trim that Andy showed was a pain to get to fit the car. It’s plastic pieces that all intertwined around the rear window to help hold the headliner. I could see before I started that each pieces profile didn’t match the profile of the piece that it slipped into. Had to get creative but made it work.

One thing I thought about was using convertible top rubber tack strip. Using that, gluing it into place and then coming back with some #6 screws to further hold it. Counter sinking the heads and stapling to that.
  • 66 nova
Thanks for the help. I was wondering if there was one or not. Nova weren’t the fanciest models of that time so I could see them folding it over. I realize the rear tack strips are missing. Anyone have a good link to were they can be purchased.
  • New Book
Awesome! I’ll be looking forward to it!
  • French seams
@Fred Mattson thanks. Glad I went with my gut feeling and was using the backer. I’ll try it with the denim from here on out.
  • Split bench
@Peter Pittel do you have a link to the foam buns? I think I know what you’re explaining.
  • Show off your latest custom upholstery work.
That’s quite the turn around. I’d be proud of that too.

@Gareth Judd I’ve seen people use these scanners in other applications and often wonder, what does something like this cost? I seem to get mixed feelings of calling a company in is expensive and yet other like now where it seems like it must not be terrible or it wouldn’t be worth it for you to do it even with charging accordingly.
  • 1/8 inch long staples. Where to buy
Sorry I was wrong, they are 5/32 I use also
  • 1/8 inch long staples. Where to buy
It’s 1 am for me and I don’t want to get up to and risk waking the wife and kid up to verify the part number but just a quick search I feel like these are what I use. I don’t believe I ordered from this site. If I remember correctly I got them off amazon.

  • Custom bench seats
That top seat the 2 tone brown seat looks like a Snowden seat. I tried to contact them on how they keep it down but got no reply. Which is weird cause I may be wrong, but I feel they sell the seat frame and foam along with finished seats. Think they’d help out a potential customer.
  • Material stuck underneath sewingmachine
Mine does the same thing. Like @darren kilgariff mentioned it’s the thickness. I to plan ahead and know I have to help it through for that pass. But I agree. Trim some thickness down if at all possible.
  • Split bench
I’d say it looks like a layer of burlap, then cotton on top of that 3 or so layers, muslin if you want to hold the cotton down, then appears to be foam on top of that.
  • Foam cutting
My bandsaw is just a smaller bench top type. I think it’s opening is on 6” tall and I forget the width it’ll just . 12-15” maybe. It has it limitations for sure. But the table does tilt to 45 degrees. That sometimes comes in handy.
  • Shop Interior Colors
@Jens Jesberg wow! What a difference before and after. The before reminds me a lot of the rail station I worked at for the Deustche Bahn in Nuremberg. Blue everywhere, no matter how clean they kept it, looked old and dirty.
  • Sharpies
@Jens Jesberg that’s what happened with the boat seats my friend did. I think the moisture didn’t help at all from being a boat, but the vinyl was a tan or lighter color. When the marker bled through it was a reddish purple also, not black like he said he used. I believe he used an actual sharpie marker.
  • Seat carpet?
@Jim Bentley thank you, I’ll give them a call
  • Shop Interior Colors
@Nadeem Muaddi good thinking! I didn’t even think about how the colors would effect light output in a shop.
