Nylon versus Polyester Thread

So I understand that Nylon thread is not great for outdoors like marine applications. What is best for motorcycle seats or cars with no tops. Im looking for a good contrast thread for some motorcycle seats and an old fire engine that has no top. I cant seem to find anything of size for a good contrast stitch that is good for outdoor.

I operated a trim shop in Arizona for 35 years in that time I did a lot of marine work. I used polyester thread exclusively and never had a job returned because of thread issues. That being said I always tried to keep exposed stitching to a minimum.

Thanks Steve, I do the same but am getting a lot of motorcycle seat work and old fire trucks with no tops. They all want some exposed stitching and I can only find thicker contrast threads in Nylon.

Hi Matt, I've doubled up thread to make it thicker and sewn with it. Give it a try.

Here is a link for a place that carries thick polyester thread. I just ordered some 207 from them and I sewed and looked great.
