I have a customer that brought me the interior for an International Scout. The buckets need new foam on top of the springs. I know what foam I’m planning on using for this. The question is I never know what density or densities to use when doing something full foam. The rear bench seat is 5” thick on the bottom and 3” on the back. In the past when I see the cover and put it over the new foam it seems like the foam is too soft and when I put the cover on it rolls the edges down. (For lack of a better term) and the cover seems loose even though I measured and made it to fit the foam. Is it the foam, am I not doing something right, or a combo of both. The bench doesn’t have any contours or shape other than a flat rectangle bench. I’ll sew pleats in the insert to mimic the originals embossed pattern. I see a lot of custom seats on the hog rings Instagram page with contour and shape, but the foam seems to work well for them. So maybe I need a harder foam?

Hey Cody, I just posted a pic of a seat I just finished on the "show off" thread. I am fortunate to have a good foam supplier close to me so that I can go in and feel density. I usually start with ultra high density on springs and high to medium on platforms. On this seat I patterned to the carved foam and then cover it with headlining foam before I pulled the cover on. Headlining foam softens the edges and helps the cover slide. Hope this helps
