So I have a customer that brought a rear seat for a Pontiac a body, bare springs to me. Customer had already purchased skins for these seats, the foam was not available. I’m going to put foam on & shape it for the skins to fit. I put material on springs prepped for foam. My question is I’m now wrapping the foam and hog ringing it to the springs. The foam just keeps pulling through the hog rings. Am I able to use some Muslim or something glued to the foam so the hog rings don’t pull through?
I am going to try some burlap. So while I have your attention. What is everyone using for listing wire these days. I see the covered wire to prevent squeaking but is there anything new out?
Most cases I make my own listing with matching vinyl or leather used to cover the seat and as for the wire I use rebar tie wire folded in half and twisted before install in seats
I buy listing with and without a cord depending on the application. I use the corded listing or fill in the un-corded with paper wrapped wire or sometimes bare wire. I like the wire for seats to be stiff so that it pulls evenly and don't bend at the hog rings.. I do make my own listing from denim if the other don't work. So many ways of doing the same thing.
