I’m not very machine savvy when it comes to digging in and make my own repairs. Was never taught in school. But I looked in the manual for help and nothing. I have a consequence premier rb1206. I’m making some diamon stitching and want larger stitches. The faster I see the smaller the stitch gets. What’re some issues I could look into? Tensions pulling the thread to tight and not letting the material move through the machine as far? I wouldn’t think a timing issue but could be wrong. Or am I better just taking it in to a repair shop. Problem is, it’s my only machine and am in need of it for the at least the near future. Tia
Speed should not dictate stitch length. Stitch length is a function of the movement of the presser foot and the feed dogs. There could be a number of things causing your issue. Improper presser foot pressure, worn feed dogs, improperly adjusted feed dogs. If you don't feel comfortable trouble shooting those things you should have a professional take a look at it.
It sounds like a feed dog issue. The material is slipping some and this will cause an uneven stitch length. Replacing the feed dogs is a simple procedure that you can do yourself. If the machine has other issues it may be best have it professionally serviced.
Thanks guys. No other issues with the machine other than this. Works very well for a cheaper consew machine. Maybe I’ll look into the feed dogs and see how I feel. I’m mechanically inclined and feel comfortable with a lot, but don’t want to do something that may set me back. The local repair shop is 2.5 hrs away and usually takes a week for them to get it in.
If I remember right, the feed dogs are adjustable up and down, you may want to raise the dogs just a little.
Also as Steve said, you may need to tighten the presser foot spring so the material can't slip. Your manual should tell you how to do both.
If the feed dogs are worn then you will need to replace.
