• Thread issue on new thread...
@Clay Hurtubise no you don’t have to check. Being that old anyways it makes sense.
  • Thread issue on new thread...
What brand of thread was it? It seems lately I myself and reading a few other problems that new to us, spools of thread, are old and causing issues. Is this a supplier problem of over ordering and sitting on the shelf too long?
  • Fatigue
@Peter Pittel I actually have one of those after I googled it. The metal in mine is too restricting to move while sewing. Unless my search didn’t come up with what you were talking about.

@Naseem Muaddi I actually called the dr where I lived when I broke mine. Cause I had a good brace I wore often till it disappeared. So she gave me the name and I can order it online. (Cheaper this way) my pain is the wrist I shattered but it stems mostly from the thumb joint by the hand anymore. So this is a neoprene flexible thumb support and wrist support. It’s mostlt for compression on the wrist
  • Air bag seats
I can’t imagine the insurance to have on your self or the shop to cover something like air bag repairs would even be cheap, even if nothing ever came back on you legally. The only way I have done airbag seats was a customer using them in a street rod and the airbags removed from the seat. So no way they’ll go off
  • Storing leather hides
@Nadeem Muaddi I haven’t gotten the magazine in close to a year now. But are you still doing upholstery interviews for “the shop” I started getting it one day and that was the only reason I read them honestly. But after awhile just stopped coming?
  • Corner wrinkles
    @Fred Mattsonthanks! Makes sense
  • Corner wrinkles
Not to high jack the thread but @Fred Mattson I often wonder about what way the stretch should be for things. Is there any sort of guide anywhere to this, if is it play by ear. I see people who wrap dashes or doors etc and those always scare me a bit cause of this.
  • Corner wrinkles
Do like Edgar says, but have you trimmed away any selvage around you seam there? Might be too much material in the corner.
  • QTC Contrast thread issues
I was wondering what is the smallest needle size I can use with 210. I got a 25 but feel it’s leaving to large of holes. Maybe I’ll try the #22 like @Steve Ingram is saying
  • Flames in seat
I did anflamed seat while in school and the instructor has me cut the flames out and the. Right around the edge make a quick pass with a lighter. This burned back the white just enough. But I was afraid if I cut these flames out here they would distort. The ones I did at school were different and worked better.
  • Flames in seat
Thanks everyone, I ended up going with option 2. I think the customer will be happy with the end result. Like @Al Decker mentioned what’s another option to avoid that white under material of the vinyl? Do they make a black liner?

  • Foam wrinkle
Yes I agree with the no glue, but what was the solution.
  • Convertible tops
@Chris Vining I don’t envy you at the moment lol. Best of luck
  • Flames in seat
@Chris Vining all those pics look great. I figured I knew what to do, and that I would make it work. Idk why the self doubt on this project all of a sudden. I haven’t done much work like this but I have done it before and didn’t question myself this much. I guess I’m trying to keep producing better work than the project before and now I’m just making sure I’m not doing it all backwards lol
  • Flames in seat
Ah okay. So like the option one but don’t cut to final pattern size till I get the flames sewn in then pattern after that. Hopefully I’m understanding you right.
  • WTB remnants of VW Hotstripe Gti 1983 1984 Detroit Cloth 30112 / De Leo 310052
Gtimadness01 just searched and searched and found it. I know nothing about this person and can’t speak on behalf of them. Maybe give them a try, I screen shot his instragram which doesn’t give any contact info.

  • WTB remnants of VW Hotstripe Gti 1983 1984 Detroit Cloth 30112 / De Leo 310052
There is a person I came across on Instagram who reproduces old vw materials. I just searched and couldn’t find his handle. It was gti something. But when you search that a million different options come up. Maybe someone else on here knows whom I’m speaking of. Otherwise I didn’t help you at all.
  • Working with gator
I haven’t worked with it, but my brother in law has a true alligator Hyde for a motorcycle seat he’s planning. Idk where he got it, or if it was professionally tanned as he does a lot of that stuff himself. It’s tough though. Not flexiable and doesn’t seem like it would have an stretch or give really.
  • Lighting Set Up
I like the magnetic led light I have on my machine. But it’s really a good help to good overhead lighting. I was in a dark corner for awhile and it worked, but cast shadows.
  • Thread size?
    Have you tried Serafil threads?
  • Prepare yourself mentally for sewing.
That’s funny. Singer couldn’t get away with that today. I hear Gillette even made a new commercial about men being respectful and not bullying and that’s somehow controversial? I haven’t seen it so I can’t say. The times are a changing
  • Leather solo seat
Looks great! You have more patience than me to weave everything lol.
  • Black grommets
Thanks @Jesse DurkeeI wasn’t sure if it was a paint or coating but I can see how it could be an oxide like you stated. Happen to have a place I can order from or will amazon be fine?
  • Seat listing tape
Is it a denim listing maybe?
  • First dashboard upholstery
Looks good! Dashes always scare me a little
