• VW door panel inserts
I clean the foam off then wipe them down with lacquer thinner or brake clean. Then i sand off old glue by hand. I just watched a video on YouTube of a guy down south that uses xylene but i haven't tried it yet. His channel is William Hall. https://youtu.be/aqtyI1jolO0
  • Pfaff 1245 problem
Singer welt feet are close to phaff. Don't buy any parts from Sharp sewing. They sell feet from China. Make sure you know where there parts are made. China feet will cut thread when you sew or when you finish sewing and pull the fabric away the thread will break because they don't clean the sharp edge off the hole for the needle to pass through. Italy make good parts.
  • Do you use a Serger in your shop?
Unless you're paying 20 plus dollars a yard for sew foam, what you are using for seats is scheduled to rot in the same time frame as headliner foam.
  • Anyone disassemble a 2000 Mercedes center armrest
It's gone already. I turned it down.
  • 2000 Mercedes armrest disassembly
This one didn't have any screws. I found a video on YouTube after posting this and it shows that they glued the top on. Glad I didn't attempt to remove it the car was 18 years old and plastic was already brittle in it. This industry gets scarier every time I turn around.
  • Plastic welds
Norton structural adhesive number 5. You have to look at the type of plastic it's made of because with <PP> and other tpo plastic you have to use adhesive promoter to help it stick. I don't use the tip. I just squirt some out on card board and stir with popsicle stick and use the stick to dab it down in. I clamp the panel in place first.
  • Plastic repair epoxy
If you wipe the end off it last awhile. It's not like the 3m junk.
  • Plastic repair epoxy
I use small cardboard pcs. And popsicle sticks and just sqirt a little out and stir. The tips waste to much.

Thanks. Just repaired the rear bow corners with some stripped out window channel. It was hard getting it to bend backwards but I did it slowly and epoxied it in with Norton Speed grip. Then after cleaning up the inside channel epoxied plastic tack strip in. The owner found the old pads and brought them in to me and the felt for the two middle bows. Had to dig out the card board tack strip he had already glued in on all 3 bows but im finally starting to get somewhere on it. He bought new pump cylinders and hoses but not fro the same company and the ends are too small to screw in the cylinders. I told him about it and he came and got them. Came back and found an adapter that fit the line but was the wrong thread for the cylinder. But he forced it in and is going to do the same with the rest. I told him it not the right way to go about it. That it will probably leak. Some im sure that is going to add to the time it takes to roll this old girl out. Also found out that someone removed the whole top frame amd never mark it before removing it. Side are way off from each other. Lol gotta love a challenge in this business.

Thanks for the response. Would you worry about adding side tension cables if it didn't come with this year?
  • Vinyl Dyes
I avoid any vinyl dye like the plague. Lol To much time to prep.
  • 36 chevy coupe seats. Would you sew the pleates?
I also replaced the old cotton with 1845 foam with nosag burlap under it.
  • 36 chevy coupe seats. Would you sew the pleates?
The one in the back is the other seat I haven't taken apart yet.
  • 36 chevy coupe seats. Would you sew the pleates?
Here's the mockup. I sewed the pleats and made a fabric back and sewed that in instead of trying to find a way to attach the panel board back

  • Why are so many shops offline?
Im a one man shop and manage my website and Facebook page as well as my Google presents. It can be done. Ive been slammed for 3 years. I've been on the web since 1999 one year after I started my own shop. I also now manage 3 saltwater tanks in my shop to raise live coral. :)

  • Creases on headliner Boards
05 and up VW Jettas I charge extra 100 for center console removal and reinstall and t cover the cost of the new clips for grab handles visors and overhead console. Can't remember if I ever had to do a newer jag headliner but have done my last sunroof panel without charging for the board removal. Only ones I found that needs to come out the rear of the box.
