  • Switches for seat heaters

  • Sewing machine timming question. (Not hook timming)
at sewing machine maintenance school at shepard afb they said... if it doesn't break needles....if it doesn't bunch up the material....if it doesn't skip stiches ...don' try and fix it. if your machine is working try adjusting different things. like moving the hook driving gear. moving it to the left should advance the hook, moving it to the right should retard the hook. universal sewing machine has a web site you can use to find how to adjust a lot of different kinds of machines. hope this helps.
  • What’s the most profitable work?
bar stools. they are usually all alike. make a pattern for the first seat and it will work for all the rest. you can make a lot of covers in a short time. I do 5 or 6 take them back. get 5 or 6 more that way they always have seats. as a bonus you get a free beer.

  • Best door panel substrate
I have good luck with 1/8 in .mahogany plywood. a 4x8 sheet is about $11 . Washington is known for rain and dampness, I have door and trim panels over 10 years old that have never warped and still look as good as the day they were made. .abs panels cost me $17 for a 3x4 sheet. I think the plywood is easier to work with. the only drawback....... slivers,
  • Preferred machine
I have sewn on a lot of machines, anything from a singer 111w, phaffs, consew 226r (my personal machine for 30 years) consew 206r, 206rbl, 744, marrow machines, sergers. and computer controlled embroidery machines. I'm restoring a singer 144w 30" long arm, with no reverse. I personally like consews but any machine you feel comfortable at and sews without skipping stiches or jamming is a good machine. a good retailer will let you try any of their machines. I heard one local business that will let you try a machine for a week. try as many as you can, you will find one that is rite for you.
