Hey all,
I am trying to get very familiar with my machine and all the adjustments.(Econosew 2060AL, Sailrite also makes some almost identical machines) I have the manual and have been going through all adjustments and While doing so I made an observation that my neadle will start to penetrate the material before the middle pressor foot is down (3/16" above base plate) and also the feed dog is still in its upward motion (1/16" below base plate). Needle bar height, timing, pressure foot lift and feed dog are all in spec. Is this normal? It just doesn't seem right to me. If any one has some input I would greatly appreciate it. I can post pics if it would help to see the mechanics.
at sewing machine maintenance school at shepard afb they said... if it doesn't break needles....if it doesn't bunch up the material....if it doesn't skip stiches ...don' try and fix it. if your machine is working try adjusting different things. like moving the hook driving gear. moving it to the left should advance the hook, moving it to the right should retard the hook. universal sewing machine has a web site you can use to find how to adjust a lot of different kinds of machines. hope this helps.
