  • Trim Shop Floor Layout Ideas
Joni nice and organized! The way you have your machine set up is interesting. You have no bench to the left. If you were sewing say a jeep top, are you not fighting with it because its falling on the floor?
  • Convertible Top Adhesive
Are you talking about the glass or say a heat seal like one on a CLk that always goes bad?
  • 70 Charger back seat removal
Slide both front seats forward. Stand in car on rear floor facing forward. Grab lower edge of rear cushion and pull up as you kick lower edge of cushion with your heal rearward.
  • Gel Pad
So I came up with a good way to do it. Take one of those cheap knives that you get at the hardware store. I am talking about the ones with the break off blades. Measure the thickness of the gel pad. Mark that figure on the blade with tape. Cut the perimeter first then make a ton of cuts in two directions.. Never let the blade plunge deeper than the tape line. You will end up with all these little boxes that you simply pull off sideways and Wahla you have a nice uniform bed to lay the pad in.
  • Foam saws/cutter
    Yes and will do
  • Foam saws/cutter
I just picked up an ACU cutter 500. Works pretty well for $400 delivered
  • Foam saws/cutter
What are peoples thoughts on the Consew foam saw?. They even use the same 1575A wording for it.
  • Is this acceptable?
I think that if you used a layer of 1/4 landau top pad over the whole surface if would allow you to sand it and eliminate a lot of the bumps.. You could also cut a channel in the foam where the seam lays and that would lay the seam flat.
  • Thousands of yards for sale
Great inventory system!! Everything nice and labeled, you do not see that often.
  • rugged use fabrics?
    Seamark sunbrella gets my vote.
  • Split bench seat 1990 Chevy truck
Yes the fabric is bonded to the foam. We usually go over those as the foam gets pretty torn up if you remove

  • 2004 VW Beetle Sunroof after headliner
Adam Gabriel ,you are so right about the Jetta. I make the customer take out the panel on certain cars Audi,BMW ,VW , or send them to a body shop for removal. I tell them I am an upholsterer not a "'technician", bring me the shell and I will upholster it..

Do you have a shop near you with a VAG-COM ? Probably not a switch if it was working.
  • How to avoid scratches on top w/plastic windows?
I use a low tack protective film that sticks to the plastic and then peels off with no residue. No more trying to get tape to stick to vinyl or canvas.
  • Hidden stitch pleats
The first way I like because I think thet come out more uniform. I also like the fact then when sewing that second stitch the material is going away from you and not stuffed under the machines arm.
  • 1/8th hedliner
Ive have gone over the 3/16 with 1/8 and that hides a lot
  • 1/8th hedliner
Are you sure it isnt 3/16? The 1/8 inch shows every imperfection under it.
