whats the hardboard? The thick cardboard stuff? I’d like to keep away from aluminum, just person preference as I use to work with it a lot and am just over it lol

that’s great! Ever have skin allergy issues? Looks to be a pit, I’m forever trying to keep his belly skin in check, and it’s never perfect, it’s just some days are better than others.

thank you I’ll look into them too. What thickness does everyone normally get? First time rebuilding door panels vs recovering. 1/8”?

thanks I’ll give them a try. Close enough it would probably be cheaper to drive there and back than pay the shipping. Plus, visit friends in my old stomping grounds

    Both cute dogs!

Yeah I’m pretty sure if the UPS guy doesn’t watch out my pitbull is gonna follow him into his truck one day and tag along for the ride. For some reason he loves that guy.
  • Custom seats
you have a company that reproduces foam for you? If you don’t mind could you post the company or the message me the name? I’d like to get more details. I’d rather. It try to sculpt them if possible. I feel more work than it’s worth. But if I had real numbers I could get to the car club and see what the actual interest is vs window shoppers.
  • Isringhausen seat
yeah they just spin right around.

The torque screws we’re the ticket! I saw some that had the key hole slots, but this was the torque screws in the front then a riveted metal clip in the rear.
  • Isringhausen seat
Thanks chris I see some torque screws at the front I’ll try and remove those and see what that does
  • looking for legend cloth for 2016 F150
Midwest fabric supply in in dappled might have it?
  • Shop policies
The tax one mentioned about is crazy. If someone asked me how much it’ll be I swear I have to say plus tax. Idk how many times I’d say $500 (made up number) and give them a bill with the tax and they’d show up with cash or a prewritten check for $500. Also the insurance is a good aspect.
  • Patterns on leather?
I’m very new to leather but someone mentioned in here in another post that they use different areas of the hide for different areas of the seat. Some parts are stiffer and wouldn’t work as well for the main insert area or look as nice. But also depends on the way the area you are using stretches and what it will be used for.
  • 2010 ford f150
Thanks I’ll save these sites. Yeah I don’t do enough to justify Detroit books either. But now the customer just wants close and by that they mean anything cloth that’s any shade of grey....wish they told me that from the start lol
  • Scrim/sew foam
I often debate this myself. I either use 1/4 or nothing. It’s the seat style for me that makes me choose. I never know if it’s needed though. Oil style spring seats where there’s no foam from the cushion behind it I tend to add sew foam more often, vs the newer seats.but again I have no idea
  • Door Panel Staples
I use pop rivets too. Make sure the rod snaps flush. If not I grind them a bit.
  • Binding square corner
@Keith Mayne thanks. Pics are always better for me to help understand!
  • Binding square corner
@Drew Crum I have not. I’m going to make a few practice pieces. I’ll give that a shot
  • How often do you close your shop to focus on cleaning & organizing?
I can’t say I go so far as wiping lights and things down. But once a month maybe every 2 months I’ll actually move everything out. ( I believe in a Mininimalist approach to were I work, vs were instore material.) almost everything is on wheels. Turn on some ventilation fans and grab my leaf blower. I then go around and blow all the dust out. Of course this is done after I have picked up large debris and swept. So it’s just dust at this point. I blow the walls and lights, floors everything. In the summer I was down the floor.
