  • Best and worst estimate stories?
There are three things that I will never forget that I have found while stripping seats. First was a pile of chicken bones (drum sticks and wings) under an F350 seat, who knows how long those had been in there. 2nd was a 2-carat diamond stud earring, my customer said that his wife had lost that around 12 years ago. He had already been reimbursed from his insurance, needless to say, re-upholstering his Tahoe seats was the best money he had ever spent! 3rd we were stripping down some seat frames for parts and tossing everything else to make more room in the shop. The seat was a cloth 2002 Yukon, once I removed the top cover there was a pocket carved in the foam with a vial of Winstrol Anabolic Steroids.
  • Thor sewing manchice
Hey Don, we have several Thor single needle GC-1541S and double-needle GC-1560 machines. We have been running them for around 3 years now and have had great success with them. We are sewing production on these machines so they are running hard 8 hours a day. We have some Consew machines as well but the Thor has a higher foot lift. The extra lift really helps sew through thick parts of a seat cover that have a "J" clip sewn on as well. Hope this helps. Thanks! Brian Verhalen The Seat Shop.
  • Lazy employees
Ol Bud, my 15 year of Golden, has many job descriptions around The Seat Shop. First and foremost as a greeter for anyone who comes through the door. He also is very good at taking a long nap in the center of the floor making everyone stop over him quietly making sure not to disturb him. His favorite time of day is Lunch, as he goes to everyone's desk with the most pitiful look on his face trying to get anything he possibly can. And finally, he will wait at the dock door for FedEx to come pick up all of our packages.

  • 96 Chevy Tahoe black rod on the lower captains seat bottom.
I believe that is the lever to make the seat back fold forward and make the seat slide to the dash for the Extended cab trucks. Before they came out with the small "3rd" door on the extended cab trucks if you were in the back seat you could push down or pull up on that lever to release the passenger side seat forward in order to get out of the back seat easier.
  • foam buns
Hi Nic, we manufacture OEM replacement foam cushions for a lot of the Ford, GM, and Dodge truck's and SUV's. If the factory used hog rings our cushions will have the listing wires molded into the cushion. I know this will not help on every vehicle but if you are working on a truck or SUV we could definitely save you the whip of carving up new foam.
