  • Abs panel
What do you mean by expansion?
  • Door Panel Staples
    Small shallow black pop rivets.
  • Color match
I use the Soft Impact book all the time. It is the only book I have ever seen where what you see is what you get. Very little, if any color variation. I do seat repair, so it is very important that what I see is what I get. I have never seen material that far off in color, from that book. A mistake was made somewhere. It is very hard to find a supplier for Soft Impact. I get mine from Midwest Fabrics. You probably have heard of them, being from the midwest.
  • Foam shaping
I use quart paint can lids, with nail holes in them.
  • Trim tag
Forget the original material, you will NEVER locate enough to do all the seats. If you are looking for something HALFWAY close, there is jupiter scarlet and neptune scarlet. they are after market patterns sold by many suppliers.
  • Zig zag springs
    I thought the same thing.
  • Zig zag springs
I have seen where the custom people will do away with all the springs, and cut a wood board in the shape of the seat frame, bolt it to the frame and custom cut foam to fit.
  • Air bag seats
Has anyone ever heard of an upholsterer being dragged into court for a SIDE airbag that didn't deploy or didn't deploy properly because of a repair?
  • Thread size?
    where do you buy it?
  • Thread size?
Do you use 92 for the bobbin as well?
  • Thread size?
I mainly do auto seat repair. I have used 69 thread for 22 years, I also think that 92 is extreme overkill to sew car seat covers together. There is nothing wrong with using 92 to sew the top stitch, accent and french seams, except the cost of buying 92 thread that is the same color you just used to sew the cover together. I even use 69 for the top stitch, with no complaints. This week I have to replace all the inserts in the front and rear seats of a Jeep Wrangler, with day glow green vinyl. I had to buy 92 thread because it was the only thread that would match the color of the vinyl, I couldn't find it in 69. But I will only use it for the top stitch. I don't understand why people use 92 thread to sew covers together. I wish I knew.
  • Seat carpet?
DLT Upholstery Supply calls it Flex Form Backless Carpet. It's probably called many different names. It can be found on most carpet sample charts.
  • Corners
You could also try regulating the seam, meaning, get both edges of the seam to lay flat on top of each other, on the same side. This can be done with your hand, or a regulating needle. Notching the radius also helps as well.
  • 1960 Chevy Bel Air seat cover HELP
What kind of seat is it? Seats from the 50s had cotton batting in them as well.
  • Air bag seats
Since no one will take the initiative, and make a video of a repaired seat with the proper thread, I guess my question would be, If you saw a video and you knew the air bag would properly deploy, after the repair was done, would you still refuse to work on an air bag seat?
  • Mouse Hole
I would use clear 2 inch packing tape to bridge the hole. make sure it's level, and apply headliner material. The hole is still there but it's covered. This works well on smaller holes, thats a pretty big hole.
  • Do you use a Serger in your shop?
It's good to hear from you again.
  • How many yards does it take to do these two seats? Guesstimate?
Five yards would be more then enough.Plus you get the five yard price. But a good guess would be three and a half.
  • Thinning Adhesive
Yes, I'm hip to the Brill cream.
  • Fat Luck'y

That must have been the coolest thing in the world, to work under that guy. So much experience.
  • Stitch Length, Needle Size and Thread
I use the same as Geoff. Cechaflo has an exelent video on this subject, watch it, and it will explain everything you will ever need to know. Very informative.
  • Tension issues
Could be the thread. My Pfaff 145 won't let me run that type of thread without problems, so don't use it in that machine.
  • machine top side tension assembly
I don't think the thread hooks around the tiny bar. I have a Pfaff 145, 545, and 1245. The manual says it does not go around the tiny bar. Mine don't and work perfectly. Replace the tension plates, and don't hook the thread around the tiny bar.
  • Battery acid
I ask myself the same question every time I have to fix one,
