I recently started my business and I'm looking to add a long arm to my shop....I currently sew on an older Consew 206RB, I do love the machine and has been great to me, so naturally I was considering another Consew 206RBL, Seiko equivelent or the NC6L
There is a lightly used Juki LG-158 for sale locally at about the price I can get a new consew for... does anyone have some input on that particular machine?
my business is primarily automotive interiors and the occasional boat cushion job....I'm looking to start producing a few carpet sets for VW Bus/Vanagon which is why I'm looking into the long arm...the front bus mats are almost 5' wide and have multiple bound holes right in the middle.
Cool, i hear you dude , i am in same , love my CONSEW 206B BUT I WANT A LONG ARM , SMALL BUSINESS IS HARD THE BIG GUYS SEEM TO IGNORE US, MAYBE SOMEDAY THEY WILL SAY LETS HELP THE LITTLE GUY THAT REALLY HAS THE DRIVE TO MAKE IT IN DIEING "ART" BUT THAT WON'T HAPPEN, WE ALL STRIEVE FOR SUCESS@
After buying and watching Sid Chavers videos I noticed he was using a long arm and sewing through door panels. I wanted to be able to do that and I was tired of material falling off the table and stuffing bench seats through my machine. So I recently bought a long arm from NC. I got the 1508L which is based on a Juki. I've only done one set of seats with it but it seems to be a good machine for the money. Its a tank, sews like butter and handles thick layers of leather and foam much better than my Consew 255rb. I love my consew but the space under the long arm is so nice. Mal, Mel, and Mark at NC were great to work with and they've been super helpful and responsive with any questions I've had. He even gave me a 5 year extended warranty that they usually only do for sema. Good folks over there. Good luck in your search but I say pull the trigger, its a game changer
I really like the NC long arms — they have everything from regular to extra-heavy duty, single needles, twin needles, zig zags, etc. And they're all reasonably priced. Like @Tyler Resch said, the guys are great. Their customer service is unbeatable.
If you can afford to wait, buy it in October when NC's annual SEMA sale starts. You'll save money.
