I'm very curious about how the automotive industry covers steering wheels. I'm assuming it's done on an automated machine. I would love to see a video but so far I haven't had any luck.

Actually I was referring to the OEM wheel covers. It must be automated in some way and I have never seen the process. I think it would be fascinating to see.
The steering wheel covers are hand stitched just like all baseballs. Rawlings has been trying to automate the process but it has been too difficult to develope the equipment. It takes 108 stitches to finish a baseball.
I’d say there’s a element of automation for the mass produced stuff, the final Lacing I would say is by hand.
The reason I say this is one car I own (mk1 focus RS) the wheel seems to have gone through some sort of heat process as the colour/finish melts. Also the glue underneath indicates to me it’s been through some sort of process.
