    Hi all,

My first time working with old stock vinyl. None of my customers have wanted to pay the hefty price for original material until now.

I find it really really stiff to work with, barely any stretch to it. Any tips on working with it to make it easier. Very concerned about the cover ripping when I try and stretch it on to fit.

A lot of the old stock vinyl has a canvas type backing with very little stretch, and if is true old stock it may have stiffened up over time. All I know that you can do is warm it with a heat gun, but be careful. Maybe try it on a scrap piece to see if it helps. Some of the others may have a better idea.

That NOS vinyl can be really stiff and difficult to work with. If you have access to a steamer, that would help .Steaming the back of the vinyl slowly will soften that canvas backing.

Thanks Hal & Eric for the advice. I used a steamer and it works really well to soften it if I need to stretch it. around a corner. Thanks a lot!

I hope it holds up alright, it still feels pretty thin and flimsy but at least i can get it to install a lot easier...
