I have customer restoring a '69 Lincoln Continental. The dash pad is cracked. Has anyone use Just Dashes or do you know of anybody else who restores the original dash.
Just dashes will restore the dash pad to original condition. The process takes several weeks after they receive your core. The cost begins at $1200, It can go higher.
This dash I believe has a french seam around the forward edge and can be recreated in shop for a lot less.
It does not have the french seam or I would have covered it myself. It is a molded vinyl/plastic one piece cover. Just dashes finished price with shipping and color match is closer to $1,500 with a 5 month lead time. Just wondering if there were other options.
If it needs to be stock / non custom Just Dashes is your best option. You could try to patch, grain and dye. I have not attempted this myself as of yet, but it is possible depending on how bad the damage is, and how much time you are willing to spend experimenting.
I have used this plastic repair material and it works great but I will be wrapping the dash, and not trying to grain and paint/dye. I used this to fill large holes, cracks, and even to fill the center speaker which I'm eliminating https://www.semproducts.com/product/dual-mixtm-multi-plastic-repair-material then I used this Polyflex as the final filler, to smooth everything out.
I have used the dash repair material by Polyvance on several dash repairs, it works great, but it just fills/repairs the foam portion and have always recovered the dash after the repair. Make sure that is well stirred before mixing the two parts.
I do vinyl repairs, but this one has been done by someone else. Quite poorly I might add. So repair is pretty much out of the equation.
It looks like Just Dash is the only option as a junk yard wants $1,000 for a 60 year old one.
