What is the name of this type of listing material? I have the type with the plastic already attached to it, but for these seats I’m looking to go close to oem and use the wire. Doesn’t have to be exact as this if someone has another suggestion.thanks in advance.
I normally use typar as a replacement. I get it from Keyston. Where did you get the plastic style? Run into a few chevys with the snaps that I've been fortunate enough to salvage.
Most often listings are made from upholstery denim. Strips are cut to the required size and then folded in half. The headliner listing material is usually too light weight for seat work.
Listing material should be soft and light weight, yet strong enough to hold the seat cover in position without tearing out.
If the material is too heavy the seat cover may distort and not lay correctly on the foam/cotton cushion.
In 45 years of trimming, I have seen many different materials used for listings and nothing is out of the realm of listing material.
sorry the typar is what I was refering to. It has a welt like cord presewn into it. I order from Albright’s. I was just looking for it to take a pic but in the midst of spring cleaning and now I can’t find it. I’ve thought of denim or thin canvas. I saw the headliner listing but agree that’s to light weight for this. On these Audi seats some of the listings at just the leather folded over and sewn into a pocket also. Just looking for a sense of what others use here.
I’d like to thank Fred for taking the time to call and talk with me about my question. He did more than that and talk about his experiences, good and bad and how he’s achieved a place in his career he’s happy with. Thanks Fred. If anyone needs help or has questions give him a call.
Here you could buy it directly. But it is a little more expensive than with other suppliers...
Here are a few suppliers who have the above "tube strip" in stock. Elsen & Hemer (Art.Nr: 0F0.053.583) in 22mm width MAH has it in 19mm width. I also have to look for the article number.
