This will be vague from the start as I haven’t seen the car and just looking for a heads up. A man called me about an amphicar he is looking to freshen up. He is working on it for a customer so his knowledge was limited on the details of the car. The problem is the previous owner had a new top put on and he says it fits like a loose tarp. I’m not sure if this was a prefab top or sewn. I guess never having worked on one of these, I was wondering if anyone had any tips on tricky areas for this. Whether removing and a hidden fastener or Something that an amphicar first timer may get stuck on. Sitting next to the car is a duesenburg, which by all rights is a rare car, but this one takes rare to a whole new level. It was one of the first cars they built and looks like a normal sedan of the era vs a large luxury car they’re known for. If I can do this for him, hopefully it’ll open doors to something like that.

Never done one as they are not that common unless you are at Disney World. But I did find this.https://amphicar770.com/threads/tips-for-installing-the-convertible-top.6752/
Even online photo's show a loose fit.

There are actually quite a few near me. My boss did the top on one over 10 years ago. And every year I see an immaculate one tooling around Port Washington at my parents boa slip. I’ve also seen a row of them in a field waiting to be restored when I was a kid off some farm road. Call up electron tops, the catalog photo is of one.

I have seen quite a few of them but almost always with the top down. The creator of the place in Disney with them live/lived by me and had a bunch of them at his Galaxie drive in. Steven Schussler also created Rain Forrest Cafe. Maybe Fred knows about them. He is close to that area.
