I could do with some help or advice in covering things linke handles, trims, dashboards etc.
Today I've been doing some porsche handles which I luckily had the old covers to pattern from, previously when I did some I templated it up.I removed seam allowances, sprayed contact adhesive on both surfaces and let dry overnight, then today reglued the cover, set the seam and wrapped.
Hows the best way of doing it.
How to get a nice straight seam line.
How to stop the cover sticking where it shouldn't without peeling glue off, ie itself, the wrong position.
Where I need to cut two edges to join, how to get a nice cut.
Unfortunately using skived/thinned leather is not an option.
I've seen on videos people heating it up afterwards and smoothing it out, does this work and how do I do it.

well if I have a pice that has complex curves like a door grab, after i glue everything up, i simply fold but not crease it in half where both glued ends are near each other. that will allow you to get you alignments right with out worrying about the end flopping around in the glued surface.

i never waited over night for glue to set on a initial coat, if i’m in a huge hurry i just use a heat gun to speed things up.

    Cheers guys.
Cechaflo has great videos but I have to skip through them as they take up far too much time and I don't have enough concentration to watch them fully.
Heres a couple I've done recently, have another set to do soon in chocolate brown leather with a reddish brown stitch.

I'd say you're already doing it right Keith. Those pieces turned out great.

As for preventing the cover from sticking in areas that you're not working on yet, I place several pieces of scrap vinyl between the cover and the piece to prevent the glue from sticking. I'll adhere a small section at a time and remove those scrap pieces of vinyl when I'm ready to work on that area.
