so for the past 20 plus years ive been tying to convince our uk suppliers to stock weldwood glue with no luck what so ever !!!!!!!!!!! i have been getting it in the uk another way which is time consuming expensive and just plain difficult but im pretty confident that im the only trimmer in the uk or possibly europe that has it !!!!!!!!!!!! anyway all the top trimmers will tell you that it is the best and far better than anything available in the uk . anyway .................... its not in stone yet as there are many hoops to jump through but i might of got a supplier sorted so i have no price as of yet but do need some feedback from other uk trimmers to see if there is more demand to make it worth my troubles . it will be the 5 gallon tins so just let me know who wold be interested ?

    I’d be interested chris,
Like yourself I’ve battled with uk supplers with regards to weldwood, most of mine are handled through a 3rd party where a friend excepts 99.9 % of my US orders and then she’ll resend what I need over, Similar to getting Mobile Solutions stock over the pond

I’ve asked myself on a number of occasions, if it would pay if I relocated my business to us but there’s other trimmers to consider, let alone the complexly of being accepted in the states
    Keep me posted Chris

it was all looking positive and the only way of doing it was buy me purchasing £10k worth of glue !!!!!!!!!! i was going to take that gamble but at the end of it all they wouldn't do it because it was flammable , so yet again if i want to by drugs , passports , guns , explosives or traffic people it doesn't seem to be a problem but a legitimate company wanting to buy products to make there business run is a big NO NO .

so looks like ive got to lie to my customers and tell them that there headlining wont fall down knowing that it will because im using uk glue !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    i tried

We use alpha 1554 sprayable contact adhesive and have not had any problems of headliners falling down.Probably one headliner a week.

appreciate it fred ............... should be easy but takes up too much time !!!!!!

hey keith who are you buying it from as boyriven want £100 a tin i think ??
it might be strong but i find you cant lift it off and on and off again like you can with weldwwod untill your happy then use heat for it to stick properly ! i find the alpha doesnt give you a chance to do that without damage . also 5 gallons of alpha is almost twice the price of a 5 gallon tin of weldwood

I think we may buy it direct, however we do buy 100ltrs at a time.I don't do the headliners but I do know what you mean about not being able to reposition it however letting it really dry out does help.I've not used any other glue so can't compare it to anything else.

i still dont understand why none of our suppliers are not interested in supplying it

Chris, we have dedicated heat activated glues for interiors in both single or 2 part from a number of manufacturers in the uk/Europe which are far superior

im all ears ......................had many reps from glue company's give me confidence in there products but still none have come close as of yet . so what are you using ???? i get so many inquiries from Ferrari , maserati and jag owners with headlining and dashboard fails on cars that are not that old at all

I know what your saying mate, I’ve know idea what jag do these days but I do a lot of Ferrari’s/Maserati fairly well.

the Maserati, aston headliners is due to foam failure in my opinion as the foam goes to mush.

Ferrari use a soft open cell foam to bond their leather to and imo isn’t up to the job hence the failures.

The glue 9/10 times isn’t the problem
