Here's a new problem that I'm having and would like some suggestions from you. The stitches seem to show up more than normal in the leather and it's not from being pulled too tight. I've tried adjusting the tension and stitches per inch but no change. I'm using a #23 needle, What say you all?
It doesn't happen in all areas of sewing as you can see in the next photo.
What size thread are you using? 23 needle is pretty big, especially if you are using a smaller thread. Ive had this happen before. The needle makes too large of a hole and the thread is too small and cannot fill the needle hole. That creates space and shows the stitches.
It was a thought also. I normally use 90 thread for most sewing, but switch off to 128 for to stitching so I don't change the needle but may have to now, especially in leather . Thanks
I had similar issues, I brought size 18 needles for sewing 40 thread and 22 needles for 20 thread and change them religiously. Also try shortening the stitch length and using a scrim backing if you can, I've found that really helps to reduce the size of the needle holes.
