No marine vinyl is fine for cars. Just don't put car vinyl in boats.

The vinyl that is available today is mostly marine grade. It is UV and mildew resistant. A better choice than the vinyl we used twenty years ago. Also, the color choices are much better for modern applications.
I with that the vintage vinyl that I work with had these properties.

Thanks guys....I have been redoing a GMC Jimmy and we did use a marine vinyl on the seats and door panels. Had some come into my shop and asked why I used marine vinyl on the seats...we to be honest we liked the carbon fiber look. Lol.

I've had some people give me funny looks when I pull out a sample book that says marine on the cover. They're usually the same people that tell me that they "want that faux leather, not vinyl"

I like a lot of the marine style...I also heard it doesn't mold as fast..

That's correct, good marine vinyl comes treated with chemicals that prevent bacteria and mildew, and provides ultimate UV protection.
