I have a friend who is a signmaker and I trade upholstery work for him making me templates/stencils.So far I've had him make up seat inert templates such as diamonds, curved diamonds, and a few other designs, he's also made me strips of plastic 40 inch long and varying from one inch up to three inch in 1/4 inch increments that are useful for laying out pleats and are handy for other stuff.
I don't really need anymore seat templates as everyone always chooses diamonds so has anyone any ideas on designs for templates that would be useful? My only idea at the moment is a speaker hole punch stencil for laying out the small holes in door cards and the like.I've just deep buttoned a foot stool for him and need a trade.
Here's some of what he's done so far. This is only a trade/friend thing so I will not be reselling on templates
I cut clear plexy strips 1/4" - 2" every 1/8" in size 48" long. (A few are set to 1/16" dimensions.) I find many uses for them. They save a lot of time making beading and binding the correct size.
These look great @Keith Mayne! They're a HUGE time saver, for sure!
LeatherSeats.com sells acrylic stitch templates. They offer 10 different patterns, which could help with some ideas on new ones. You can view them here.
