I don’t work with leather much. By that I mean very little. I have a customer wanting a few fender bras made for his semi. I know there are different leather for different applications. Wondering what leather to use, or if you think a marine grade vinyl would be better. He says he wants 4. I don’t know if that means 4 in total, or 4 sets. I would think half a hide either way, if leather. They are in the elements all the time and taking the brute of road debris. I’ll attach a pic so you better understand what I mean.
I must say that the title "leather semi bra" raised my interest, but only to find out it went on a truck...just a little humor.
For what it's worth, I think you would be better off with a good grade of marine vinyl as it would stand the abuse and weather better than leather.
So my title worked well then lol! I agree with a marine vinyl and suggested it to the client. I think I will try to convince him to go this route vs leather. Cheaper to replace if need be in the long run.
When doing the diamond stitches. Would you still use regular sew foam or use an outdoor foam and add a backer to it?
Same suggestions as above. If this is something the trucker is going to keep on through rain, snow, etc -- it's gonna get ruined pretty quickly. There are materials treated for the elements. Stick with those.
Funny subject line, though! I too was expecting something sexier than a truck.
