96 Chevy Tahoe black rod on the lower captains seat bottom.

    Does anyone know what this black rod is used for and if it's fixable or removable and obsolete it if not needed? I purchased these captains seats for my 96 chevy tahoe. Thanks in advance.

    My guess is that it has something to do with the seat belt and center counsel .

    I believe that is the lever to make the seat back fold forward and make the seat slide to the dash for the Extended cab trucks. Before they came out with the small "3rd" door on the extended cab trucks if you were in the back seat you could push down or pull up on that lever to release the passenger side seat forward in order to get out of the back seat easier.
