Hello, i have an motorcycle seat to recover and it has a fiberglass seat pan. What is the best way to attach the seat cover to the fiberglass?

    Use staples or pop rivets

Will the staples split or crack the fiberglass?

We had a Bea staple gun with a broken driver blade. I was told it was lent to a customer who used it to fasten material to fiberglass. My gut feeling is stapling molded fiberglass can not be good for a general purpose upholstery staple gun. With that said, I have seen sheet metal stapled to chip board. It looked like it was stapled with a heavy duty desk style staple. It was a Cessna 172 door panel. You could shoot one as a test. If you do please let us know your thoughts.

Depends on how thick the fiberglass is. I have seen people use rivets, also seen just glued down on the underside. For custom seats I’ve seen metal bands used to that are about and inch wide and the same shape at the seat pan. The material is them sandwiched between the pan and this metal
    Band and then solid riveted.

I glue and pop rivet. Rarely you can pop rivet the thin convertible tack strip around the edge and staple.that usually depends on how much clearance you have.

if your using leather in will adhere to the fiberglass with out a problem
if your using vinyl...rivets..or glue the vinyl then glue a thin carpet over the vinyl

@"Kris Vowell the thin price of carpet or felt is on the bottom to stop the rivers from scratching the paint. It’s also there to hide the folded over and riveted material that may not be so pleasant in the eyes

I glue all mine. Bit of a pain in some areas opposed to a nice plastic pan to staple to but it does the job and i have't had one come back yet.
