I’m redoing a set of seats out of a 91 bronco. They want them to be as close to original styling as can be. I’ve seen this on numerous seats, I just don’t know the name of the material, so I can purchase some. It’s on the lower seat cushion of the front buckets. It’s sewn to the back or the rear panel of the boxing and wraps under the seat. I haven’t looked closely but I assume a j clip is sewn to this and holds it to the frame. It looks like a short strand carpet almost. Is that what it actually is or is it considered a seat material. I have an order set up with Albright, if they have it can someone post a link, or know the name of the material I’m speaking of so I can finish the order.

DLT Upholstery Supply calls it Flex Form Backless Carpet. It's probably called many different names. It can be found on most carpet sample charts.

The flex form backless will work in a pinch but the carpet on the seats is much stiffer than the flex form. Flex form will stretch in every direction making it un-suitable for something like that. Although maybe you could glue some backing to it and make it work. It's worth a try for sure. I've been able to re-use the carpet section from most of the seats I've done with the carpet back. Obviously that's not always possible.
I did get some black non stretchy backless a while ago from DLT or Midwest Fabrics I'm not sure which, but it was a random cut and not a stock item. it is very similar to the backless German Velour from GAHH. That may be worth a try.

Just got some carpet from Miami Corp. Was going to order the Super Flex they stopped selling and went to this other type of backless carpet. Nice and stiff, works great on Chevy P/U seats where carpet was needed.
