Have an older chevy pickup truck that the customer is looking for some square weave in. I've searched and looked at a lot of pictures from Josh's from Relicate Leather website. Have a few questions to you guys that do those carpets and make them look damn good. I do a ton of boat carpet, but nothing as custom as this truck.

What do you back the carpet with if anything? I can see people put closed cell foam over the floor to smooth things out, is there anything ever placed on top of that without making the carpet look and feel bulky?

Is the binding typically leather or vinyl? or serged?

How do you typically pattern out where the sections of carpet will go, or is it a visual thing?

Are heel pads out of style when using this carpet? This truck is show but yet will be driven and driven hard!

Average cost for a job like this? Customer will remove and replace everything on the firewall to mount over the carpet.

    Thanks!

I see a lot of posts of people who use relicate leather and it’s always top notch. I know cechaflo just did a carpet video like a week ago. Shows the process pretty well. From what I was taught, jute is what goes under the carpet. This gives it a soft feel yet hides the bead details of the floor and other small imperfections. Whether or not this is the lastest way I can’t answer. I think the binding is all preference as what the customer wants.
