I'm not sure if this has been covered, but here goes. I learned this from a sign painting book. Lay out a design on paper; run over it with a pounce wheel; any art supply store; place it over your fabric; put baby powder in an old sock and tap it over the holes in the paper; remove the paper and go over the powder impression with your favorite marker, and sew. An easy way to break up solid panels. here are a few examples.

    Hello Guys...
Baby powder is a great stuff....you can also use it to peel of the ugly foam from headliner...i mean this ugly glueing foam on headliners...espacially US cars headliners where the cloth came down..I dont know how to describe...but if you put baby powder on it, you can easily rub it down...;-) ....

Thanks for the tip. I'll definitely give it a shot next time I redo a headliner.
