A good friend of mine has a tubbed and caged 69 Plymouth valiant racecar.
We were talking about ways to make the rear seat area nicer now that its tubbed, and I suggested he give me his original back seat, and the reproduction backseat covers he has and I will try and fab up something lightweight (not meant to be sat on) that can hide the tubs and rear firewall and "appear" to be a stock seat.
I'm thinking of using Styrofoam and carving it out... or maybe making a frame out of a sheet of hardiboard and using a 1-2" foam over the top then styrofoam blocks on the back side to make up the space.
Has anyone here ever done anything like this? How did it turn out? I've seen a few back seats at the racetrack before that had clearly been "lightened" but its always evident as the cover is loose and/or mishapen.
anyway, will be starting on this next week, i'll post up some pics as i go along.
i would go along the lines of styrofoam for the lack of weight that he'll want (less weight, faster car) but i don't know how that would go for safety in case of a fire etc.
