• How much to charge for re-carpeting a bass boat
i agree with the 5 star statement. I thrive on my reviews and i have an excellent 4.9 star review record. I always try to put out my best work on every job because i understand word of mouth advertisement. But at the same time, i dont wanna stick my foot in my mouth and not price it enough and lose my ass on it. I didnt know if you guys had developed a formula to pricing a carpet job that i could use as a reference for pricing
  • How are your shops doing during this pandemic?
I'm in Kentucky and My shop has stayed steady since the pandemic started. I have a 5 man crew (me included) and i only laid them off when the pandemic first hit here for about 2 weeks and then we were busy ever since. Now it has slowed down since the holidays are over, but this the normal slowdown period (January-february). My dealerships have been keeping us with work though.
  • Katzkin install hrs.
The best way to answer this question is... charge what the market will bear in your area. I'm in Kentucky and if i price a leather kit install at $1200 i would never install any. I'm a Katzkin dealer and installer and i install 3-5 kits a week. (Working on the 4th one as we speak for this week). I can have a 2 row leather kit installed within an 8 hour day and a 3 row leather kit in 10-12 hours, depending on the vehicle. So whatever your labor rate is for a days work is what you charge. If Katzkin sells a kit direct to consumer, they sell it with installation included and they set them up with whoever Katzkins nearest preferred installer is (like me) and they pay me, the installer, $600 for a 2 row kit and $750 for a 3 row. So you have to understand what works for someone in LA may not work for someone in knoxville TN. Cost of living plays a big part in pricing
  • Vinyl/Leather/Cloth Cleaner Recommendations
Oh ok. I'll have o look it up. Thanks
  • Vinyl/Leather/Cloth Cleaner Recommendations
I use Ardex adhesive remover for glue and pen, chalk marks
  • Soft Top Windows
From what I've been told, there's no way to replicate the factory heat seal and trying to glue it in won't work because of the tension on the back window. You can't guarantee it will hold, let alone, leak. I've talked with Electron Tops, Doug Robbins of Robbins Tops and others. They all said the same thing. I was told the heat seal process was a 2-3 day process. So, I turn those repairs down and try to talk them into a new top (or at least a back window unit if it's a 2 piece top)

Axis T23 boat that came in. Boat was in a barn that caught fire and interior cushions were all melted from the heat. Had to recreate everything from scratch.

  • Patterning techniques
I've been using " Press & Seal" seran wrap because of the tacky backing.
  • Patterning techniques
I'm intersted in your technic. I've been using " Press & Seal" seran wrap because of the tacky backing but i'm looking for something with the same charcteristics but industrial form.
  • Patterning techniques
when you say somewhat clear.. what do you mean? If i draw on the foam with black marker can you see through it to trace your previous marked patterns clearly? I've been using Press & Seal seran wrap because of the tacky backing but i'm looking for something with the same characteristics but in a more industrial form
  • QTC Contrast thread issues
"UPDATE" serafil was the correct answer! I quess the QTC brand is just crap. I set up my Amann account and bought some serafil and its been sewing like a dream! No issues whatsoever. The only drawback to Amann is that if they dont have the color i. Stock you have to purchase a minimum of 5 spools to get the color you want. They sent me a color chart but they don't stock all the colors and it takes about three weeks to get the order if its not i stock. They really only stock uour standard colors like black, white, beiges and just a few other select colors. But say you need a lime green or orange etc. Plan to buy 5 spools and weight three weeks for it. Keep that in mind when planning and estimating your jobs
  • QTC Contrast thread issues
so I just set up my account with Amann. What thickness thread are you using for the thick contrast stitch look and what needle size. And if you dont mind me asking, what sewing machine are you currently using?
  • QTC Contrast thread issues
I've never used serafil before... what vendor are you getting it from?
  • QTC Contrast thread issues
are you saying go down with the needle size or the thread size?
  • QTC Contrast thread issues
Well I don't think I did the image upload correctly so forgive me on that
