  • Steering Wheel Stitching Threads
Thanks for the tip Krunoslav. I'm going to try that thread out.
  • Sew foam questions for all the trimmers
I never glue sew foam. I always perimeter stitch my material.
  • King Ranch Hides
I believe Coast to Coast Leather has King Ranch
  • Leather kits
Roadwire also has great products. I charge a flat rate of $1300 plus tax for most 2 row vehicles
  • Need some info on 64 Dodge Polara Top install
I personally haven't done a top on a 64 Polara but I would recommend hard rubber tack strip over the cardboard stuff. It's available in different widths and thicknesses through Key and Electron. They sell it by the roll
  • hot rod reunion anyone ??
Congratulations on the win! Meeting Gabe must have been awesome too. I'm a huge fan of their work
  • Preferred machine
Do it. Best thing I ever did was buy a brand new machine (Juki1508) i wish i had done it years ago
  • marking detailed stitching
i have one of those stuffed in a closet. I always said i would use it for this purpose but honestly i never get requests for stitched designs
  • Cloth for Porsche 914 / VW Scirocco I
Thanks for the tips. I'm looking for the right project and more importantly the right budget to use weaved leather on. I love the look
  • Cloth for Porsche 914 / VW Scirocco I
Wow that's a lot! How hard is it to work with woven leather? Does it come apart at the edges when you cut it?
  • Console hinges
repurposing old parts is a great idea. I have to look for a "You Pull It" yard near me. Spending a few hours there could be fun
  • My Shop
yea im not looking forward to lugging up 4x8 sheets of plywood. That's for sure
  • My Shop
so far I've used it for extra storage and finished projects. It's also great for laying out molded carpets to set before installation and cutting material on the floor for large projects. I designated one corner for a new office. Im thinking about minimizing my downstairs office to just a counter to handle invoices.
  • My Shop
lol That sounds preety good to me
  • Creases on headliner Boards
Today I had a 2007 Chrysler Sebring in the shop for a headliner. After dropping the board I couldn't get it out of the front door. I was bending it so much that I was afraid I'd do permanent damage to it. I think I'm going to have to pull the windshield on this car to get it out.

Last week a Volvo V70 station wagon came to the shop for a liner. You'd think a wagon with a rear hatch door would be easy to remove the board but the liner was significantly wider than the opening of the hatch.
  • Console hinges
I think most people use piano hinges but I've seen some use kitchen cabinet hinges.

Here's a pic of a console lid done by Bux Customs that turned out real nice
  • Marine vinyl
No marine vinyl is fine for cars. Just don't put car vinyl in boats.
  • Thoughts on cutting foam
Where did you find a 31" blade? I'd love to get a blade that long for my machine
  • My Shop
That's a good idea, but there's a great embroidery shop just down the road from us that we're good friends with and I wouldn't want to step on there toes. I'm thinking i might make it a designated wood shop
  • Show off your latest custom upholstery work.
Nice work @Jack Purdue Welcome to The Hog Ring!
  • Damaged vinyl
Wow your nearest supplier is 500 kilometers away? That really sucks. Are there not many upholstery suppliers in Australia?
  • Thoughts on cutting foam
I have an older model Bosch saw that I bought used for $20. I use that for most of my work but when I want nice clean cuts I use my bandsaw. I also use non-serrated knives for quick simple cuts.

I like @William Duffy idea for cutting foam with an overhang. Good idea. I'll try that
  • My Shop
A while back, I added a second floor to my shop. I created a little office in it. I also left one wall without sheetrock and built some shelves to store material, but I have 850 square feet of empty space that I don't know what to do with. Any ideas?
