• New Beetle Convertible Headliner
I haven't had any issues in the past when installing but TBH the quality of EZ on, Robbins, and Gahh has gone down quite a bit after joining all together and for 35 years, my ownership being new, we've had no issues then all of a sudden this year alone I've had 3 issues with their products- items not fitting correctly and plastic retainers being sewn on wrong or too high or low. When I talked to the rep they said to me that they will re-box products from each other so I don't even know who actually made that darn thing (imported cars are almost all made by Gahh and repackaged by Robbins). He did state though that they will use EZ on as a last resort if Robbins or Gahh didn't have the product so I'm guessing they DO have their own patterns for products but for a company that made oem factory tops in the past they have sure hit the can with quality! At this point unless I can made it I'm always installing oem parts to not deal with the hassle.

  • Mercedes Seat Trim Cloth? Pillar Cloth?
    Hey everyone,

Sorry for the late reply the forum wasn't working for me for awhile and turns out I had to update chrome for it to work correctly. The material I'm looking for is in all new model Mercedes and is in just about every vinyl and leather interior as a side trim cloth. I do have the veteran sample book but they do not carry the cloth but when I called they could get it from the mill in Germany but at a 1000 yard minimum, which is not what I'm looking for (they can also get any hides that they don't have for a 50 hide minimum if anyone was is interested). I ordered some sample books from Albright's supply to expand my cloth options because of Detroit Fabrics going out of business and I found a perfect substitute in their Gen Z collection! I'm attaching a few photos of the cloth I'm looking for and what I found in the sample books. While I'm here I also wanted to ask about if any one knew the source for the u clips that they use- I've seen aftermarket seat covers have a flexible pinch welt that they can sew as an alternative and I would also be interested in that but would definitely want to carry the cloth/plastic ones used by various oem manufactures domestic and imported. Thanks a ton!- Spencer

  • Adhesive Film
You want a hot melt adhesive film. They come in in web or an actual film but the downside is you need a full scale laminator or a large hot press to make the bond. The process is also known as leather laminating and they use it for everything in a oem factory to increase the weight of the materials by bonding to scrim foam, doorpanels, headliners, dashes, etc. The process used on seats will make them last way longer!
