Awesome, thanks for the input Lyle!
  • Sharpies
I use sharpies on foam all the time and have not had an issue. I believe the foam soaks it up and also have sew foam between foam and material. I never use on any material though cause when I first started I did once and every mark bled through. Curious on others experience?
  • Corners
On tight curves I also put several notches and something no one has mentioned, I make my stitch length shorter. On real tight curves I shorten the stitch length as short as the machine allowed and go back to longer as soon as Im out of the curve.

You are the "go to man" Fred! I knew it had a specific name which now I should be able to track down. Thanks very much Fred!

Dale England, that looks really good. Thanks very much for the pics and info! I do much better with visuals. I guess the end product has a gap around the edge? Would that not hold water or is that just how they are?

Thanks again, I agree I do not want to charge for my trial and error time. That's why I was hoping for how long it would take you guys. I will bid on that and be ok with extra hours I can eat. I really appreciate yalls advise, it's a big help!
  • 36 Ford roof insert
Thanks Fred, I get what your saying. I don't want to bid 15 hrs. but should only be 5 Or the other way around.
  • 36 Ford roof insert
Another question would be hours to charge. It will take me longer but with the experience you two have how long would you bid out in hours?
  • 36 Ford roof insert
Thanks Fred and Eric! I'll get more info from owner and take yalls advise on if I should attempt or not.
  • Wind lace attachment
The supply company had that tack strip so went with it. Thanks for the advise!

Yes sir Fred for some reason I could not think of "tack strip" , sad. That sounds simple enough! Thanks for your help Fred!
  • Magnets instead of clips
That was it. I purchased some of the earth magnets and will see what happens. The are brittle as Darren said. I have broke a couple just messing with them so I will wrap in vinyl before use.
  • Sew foam questions for all the trimmers
I perimeter stitch but on occasion with very large pleats I found glue helps. Just went through this with some large boat cushions that are 4ft. x 7 ft. First attempt i only did perimeter stitch and had lots of waves so the next one I glued and it turned out nice and smooth. This is a funny topic to me cause some say you MUST NEVER glue and others say you MUST glue. I believe it all depends on project.
  • Magnets instead of clips
Thanks Andy and Tim. They arrive tomorrow and also ordered bars with holes. Makes sense to cover in vinyl if they are that strong.
  • Magnets instead of clips
Just ordered these from amazon, cheap too.

Thanks Darren! I am going to try some on some door panels I'm about to make on a 41 ford so no electronics to wory about. I am thinking of securing them with epoxy to the panels and see how that works?
  • C4 targa top
Thanks Eric! Do I use regular headline material, foam backed or just cloth only? Not sure of being able to make a clean tuck with foam backed headliner?
