• How to avoid scratches on top w/plastic windows?
We have been using clear plastic wrap for years with no problems.
  • PAYING EMPLOYEES COMMISION
    Thanks!
We did read this article but I was hoping other shops might have had success with this concept or a variation on it. In the past number of years trimmers have applied here for employment that worked for shops that paid commission so I'm sure this must be more common than we might imagine. In the end maybe it's just not practical in our industry.
One of the things we have done is create a database in Shopmonkey for the number of hours each job should take and hold the employee accountable.
  • Removing European glue residue
Thanks so much for the compliment! We have been trying the baking soda method with great results. It's so hard to believe that something so inexpensive and readily available can be so effective. I would have never guessed in a million years this would work better than all the chemicals we have experimented with. I love this Hog Ring forum!
  • CONVERTIBLE TOP WARRANTY POLICIES
In the past if any part of the top failed in the first year there would be no charge at all to the customer including labor. After the first year we would charge $ 100.00 labor to install the warranted top but then prorate the top over the remaining time left on the warranty. Over the last few years we have not been charging anything to the customer.
I'm curious what other shops policies are.
  • Factory steering wheel installation
If this is true I find this fascinating. I would love to see what this looks like on a massive scale. I was assuming there is some sort of automation.
  • Factory steering wheel installation
    Thanks for the information!
Actually I was referring to the OEM wheel covers. It must be automated in some way and I have never seen the process. I think it would be fascinating to see.
  • Air bag seats

My opinion is even a disclaimer won't hold up in court. This is a huge liability that could put a lot of shops out of business.
  • VW door panel inserts
    Thanks Mike,
We have been using Coverlays for many years and never checked to see if they made a product for VW doors. I'm going to order a set today to keep in stock. Most people will probably want these covered which will be so much easier.
But, the BIG question is " what is the most efficient way to remove the residue on headliners and related trim on European cars? "
