I haven't tried it on sew foam but it works great on closed cell foam.

Has anyone done a 2005 Volvo v70 station wagon? The rear hatch is a foot smaller than the width of the headliner board. It seems to me I'll either have to pull the windshield or severely fold the board to get it out of the vehicle.

I agree with all the others. SEM all the way. Check out their low luster clear paint as well. A local body shop supplier turned me on to it a few years ago. It'll add just the perfect amount of shine to what you're spraying and will also protect it from scratches.

Me too. Over the years, I've bought out the inventory of several shop that have closed down and now I have 3 press machines.

A few months back a seat that had battery acid spilled on it came to my shop. Like you said the upholstery was fine but the thread was destroyed. I took the cover off and gave it to him. He sent it out for cleaning and I cleaned the foam. I even covered the entire cushion in 1/4" foam. After sewing the seams back together, the thread dissolved in only a couple weeks. From then on I order new foam and upholstery from the dealership whenever their is a battery acid spill.

I've taken them out of the driver rear door too on Jags. i also remove the rear seats to do it. I try my best to bow the headliner as opposed to folding it to prevent the creases but sometimes they end up happening anyway. I warn the customers ahead of time about the potential for creases so as not to surprise them in the end.

1/8" and 3/16" is all you need for edge guide feet. 1/4" will give you a very wide ugly french seam.

Aside from your piping and zipper feet, that's all you'll need

I use a cheap $20 siphon gun from Harbor Freight and it works great. They last 2 to 3 years trouble free without any clogging. They'd probably last a lot longer if I didn't drop them on the floor as much. I'm so glad I made the switch from glue pots. Although others have had great experiences with them, my pots kept clogging on me and it was a daily battle to get them to shoot properly.

Is that a CTS interior that you retrofitted in the Chevelle? That's sweet! How did you manage to get the dashboard and door panels to fit? I imagine there was a ton of modification to make it all fit so nicely.

I've experienced that too. It's very frustrating. I try to cut my patterns to avoid those lines but it really sucks to have so much wasted material.

Stay away from Goof Off. It's very powerful and can remove any stain but it'll definitely ruin vinyl.

That emblem is awesome! How is it mounted? Does it have a threaded stud on the backside?

It's really a shame how much perfectly usable cloth interiors are thrown out by upholstery shops that are doing leather conversions.
