• Navy blue burn cert fabric
I think that navy one is spot on
  • 1983 cj5 seat buns
Now that I dug into it a bit deeper, I see that the seat is one whole piece with the metal embedded. The whole thing is rotten. I'm guessing the best thing to do is to just let him buy a ready made seat/cover as they appear to be all in one? Or find a seat frame and bun from another vehicle and adapt it to fit the leather covers he bought from lseat.com
  • looking for legend cloth for 2016 F150

  • looking for legend cloth for 2016 F150
I forgot about looking at Midwest - thanks!
  • looking for legend cloth for 2016 F150
Thanks - I will check them out. I'm getting more and more of these kinds of repairs through a small dealership, so having a source would be awesome!
  • aviation peeps - need one yard
I finally got that piece measured. I sent you a message. Thanks!
  • aviation peeps - need one yard
It would be too heavy. Need to be able to get out in a hurry if necessary. Thanks though.
  • aviation peeps - need one yard
That would be great Joe. I'll get you measurement in the morning. I don't need much - just enough for two curtains.
  • TMI headliner
In my limited experience, I have not been happy with anything 'prefab' so to speak. It never fits right and requires quite a lot of time/adjusting to get it right, and is never worth what they think they are saving in the first place.
  • TMI headliner
Wow! I guess I should get on here more often... lol. Didn't mean to cause a 'discussion'. I can see there are several ways to do things. The mustang headliners I've done before have already had the glass removed so it wasn't an issue. I would be interested in how to do them without removing the glass. We easily get to 110 days in the summer. I am supposing that this is an instance Fred, where you would do the glue like we talked on the phone yesterday? One layer each on the vinyl and metal, let it dry, then one more layer on the steel only and attach when tacky? Thank you all for your responses.
  • I need help!!
Thank you Fred!! He answered all my questions and has got me on the right track. What an invaluable source of information. Very much appreciated!
  • Bus seat foam
I second what Eric says, just repair as needed and strengthen up the existing foam. Only thing I would add is some dacron over the existing cushions - just gives you one more layer plus it will protect the foam from spills.
  • Aviation peeps - looking for....
    Thanks Joe, I messaged you
  • Time for new scissors - recommendations??
Thanks everyone. I'm going to order some Kai's.
  • Do you use a Serger in your shop?
I do have a serger and I do use it often to finish the edges of furniture fabrics - especially those that like to fray. I’ve used it on the wool fabric insets on airplane seats too. Since it prevents fraying, It makes it stronger and is worth the extra effort. I’ll have to dig through all my pics to see if I have one.
  • fraudulent charges
    frustrating isn't it!?
  • fraudulent charges
Thanks guys. I never use WiFi in public places. You may be right about a Trojan horse or something. I too have learned to just stay on top of it. Dang people - at least the deliveries were stopped so they didn’t get their merchandise this time
  • fraudulent charges
I only buy from the big, well known suppliers. So I just must have bad luck. Yep, they cancelled my card and cleared it up and I caught it soon enough the merchants were even able to stop the deliveries of the items.

    Thanks!
  • Hot knife suggestions?
I use the sailrite hot knife. I've had it a couple of years and use it frequently and it has held up well. Not too expensive I think around $140
  • Dangerous things you found
I find lots of those - I do a lot of farm vehicles that get used once a year
  • What am I doing wrong
I’m going to keep practicing with some spare parts. I delivered the panels today and the client was beyond tickled - although I could see room for improvement. I’m going to have more airplanes to do and I want to get better. I’ve definitely noticed you want a good quality vinyl or leather. Makes a difference.
  • What am I doing wrong
    those look awesome!
  • What am I doing wrong
Thanks guys, used steam and turned the vinyl the other way and I got her done!
  • What am I doing wrong
That’s what I did... trying to be thrifty and not waste material - I had this piece left over from wrapping another piece and it was just the right size. Did not even think about the direction of the stretch. Under a deadline for this one and just want to get it done. I need to slow down and pay attention. Thank you Fred, great book by the way.
