  • Best Convertible Top Brand for a Ferrari 430
GAHH has your top on sale for 25% off + free shipping... which is a good chunk of change considering how expensive Ferrari tops are.
  • leather seats
Hmm you might try GAHH Automotive. I know they sell leather kits for the 2015 Jaguar XK and XKR. Not sure about the F-Type tho.
  • Convertible tops
Trust this guy ^. He literally wrote the book on it.
  • Eletron Top ordering
Hey Warren. Did you place your order with Miami Corporation or directly with Electron Top?
  • Best and worst estimate stories?
Drugs and guns. Lots of bags of drugs.
  • How are your shops doing during this pandemic?
Glad to report that business has picked up for us as well.

For the first few months of the pandemic, things were touch and go. It hasn't gotten back 100% to pre-Covid days, but we're keeping busy.
  • Roadwire status?
Thanks for that tip Todd. Much appreciated!
  • Electron Tops has been sold
We're working on getting details and will update The Hog Ring community soon.

So far, we know just as much as you @Warren McClung, that it was bought by the previous owner of E-Z On and operations are being moved to South Carolina.

For now, if you call Electron, your call will be routed to an office in South Carolina. The teams' email addresses are not working.
  • How to handle ghosts
Definitely a sizable deposit. No one ghosts a deposit.

Unless the customer is a regular (known shop), we take a deposit from everyone. Otherwise, they'll continue shopping after they book you.
  • DIY-ers who underestimated our craft
Hahahahah! Great idea @Sonny Estrada! Maybe some reading material for the waiting room
  • extra wide suede , alcantara , fake suede
Reach out to Hyde's Leather, they're the exclusive supplier of automotive-grade Alcantara in North America.
  • Materials supplier
Agree with Adam. Albright's Supply and Miami Corporation are our go-to general suppliers. They're online and their selection and service are fantastic.
  • Haartz Sonnenland A5.3M/DS & A5B/DS Materials
@Mert Fatih Filizman I reached out to Haartz on your behalf, they tell me you can find the materials you're looking for at these suppliers:

    K.H.Mayer
    www.cabrio.de

    Speed & Sport
    www.cabriodach.com

But you might want to brush up on your German...
  • Seat patterning
Hi Paula, you can see the tutorial here:

  • Where to buy Mercedes leather and perforated leather
Hydes Leather can match anything and does perforation as well: https://www.hydesleather.com
  • Does anyone have a supplier for embroidery logos?

  • Gel Pad

  • Recognize this work?
    Jeff Hayes Customs: (812) 325-6315

At least that was his number in 2017. Hope it still works.
  • CNC Sewing Setups: Brands/Prices/Reviews/Pros-Cons?
I've heard some really good things about ABM International Inc., though I haven't tried their machines myself.

Browsing their products and watching their videos, I'm tempted to buy one. But we don't do enough custom quilting to warrant the investment. For us, it makes more sense to outsource the CNC quilting to a company like Hydes Leather or Automated Upholstery Designs.

Reach out to Mal Maher at NC Sewing & Carpet Binding. They sell traditional and decorative stitch machines, but Mal knows the industry inside-out and he's always happy to help. If there's a company or machine you should look into (or stay away from), he'll probably know it.
  • How are your shops doing during this pandemic?
Glad to hear everyone is keeping busy. That's the good thing with our shops, even when new customers run dry, we still have projects waiting in the wings.

Hopefully, this all blows over by the time that work runs out.

We're based in the Northeast, where the virus has hit hardest -- and everything is shut down.
  • Trim pricing and respect for trimmers
Started trimming in 1945? God bless you!

Thanks for joining our online community. No doubt, there's a lot we can learn from you @Jack Davis!
  • Metal meet
That's a great idea too, Fred!

Instead of just inviting other trim shops, you could invite local car clubs and enthusiasts. This way they can learn more about what you do and gain a sense of appreciation for the craft. And when they're in the market for actual trim work, they already know you.
  • Curious
Thanks for the support Jeffery! Of course, we'll share photos and welcome feedback.

But it's largely going to be a restoration job, not a custom one. So while we may make some tasteful upgrades, it'll mostly be factory.

I know it's not as fun. But the car is so well-preserved (minus wear & tear) that we don't have the heart to cut it up. It's like a time capsule.
  • Metal meet
It's a great idea! It just takes one person in a region to organize and send invites...

Anyone that wants to plan one, know that you'll get the full support of The Hog Ring. We'll help you promote the event on our website and all our social media channels. This way, everyone knows when and where it's happening, plus other details.
  • Y'all ever see a clear convertible top??
I agree. It's really well made. Right??

I'd love to know which shop did the work.
