Very cool! Is that a swatch book for leather? If so, do you market your own line of hides?
  • Just Some Holiday Wishes for All
Thanks @Diana Unger! 2017 was a landmark year for the auto upholstery industry. Check out our annual "Year in Review" for all the awesomeness that unfolded.

Wishing everyone a happy, healthy and successful New Year!
  • Kids Battery Operated Car's Upholstery!
Haha this is great! I don't have any kids yet, but when I do they're definitely getting the 12V car with the full custom interior. I wanna see someone fabricate a convertible top!

Woah!! Congrats Chris. That is crazy close!!!

In my experience, both Katzkin and Alea are great quality. But like @Diana Unger said, it all depends on proper installation.

In regards to design, I find that Alea provides more options (inserts, patterns, stitches, even glowing LEDs) to make a manufactured seat cover appear customized.

    Ok, now that's impressive!

Just a heads up, if you're considering a NC Sewing Machine, they have some awesome SEMA deals available until Nov 3 -- including huge discounts, free shipping and an unprecedented 5-year limited warranty. You don't even need to attend the SEMA Show to take advantage of them: https://goo.gl/RXhWeM

Gorgeous! What type of stencil did you create to draw the pattern evenly? I see some shops use cardboard while others have taken to laser-cut plastic sheets that they can use over and over again.

  • Rural Upholstery Shops?
Definitely trucking companies (and drivers who own their own trucks), movie theaters, gyms, restaurants (especially diners), busses, school auditoriums, doctor's offices, etc.

When we first started out, we printed hundreds of flyers and went to every and any place that may require upholstery repair, handed them out and introduced ourselves. We also placed business cards on cars, trucks, etc that looked like they needed repair.

It took a lot of time, but definitely helped get the word out.
